Arcane Hunters
Arcane Hunters

Arcane Hunters is a conceptual top down rpg game that incorporates physics based objects and effects along with a growing multitude of player attacks and ways to combine those attacks to allow for more dynamic gameplay.
This is a very early idea and I am working on it in my off time to maybe build into more feature full game. The idea is not to make this a full release game, just to build my knowledge of game development and grow/fuel my creativity.
The gameplay currently features the following:
- Player movement (WASD) with dashing (LShift)
- Cursor pointed attacking, (LMouse, Main Attack: RMouse, Secondary Attack)
- 6 different attacks with ways to combine/buff each with the secondary attack.
- 3 enemy types (Melee, Ranged, and Mini Boss)
- Player leveling that scales the enemy spawn rate and Player attack speed/projectile size/projectile amount/and more!
- 2 very basic maps with lackluster quality assets. You gain access to the second map after completing the first level.
What I would like to do that would make this "Finished" in my brain:
- Self-made pixel art assets that depict my own image of what the game looks like.
- Minimum 3 different complete maps
- Minimum 6 new enemy types
- Minimum 4 additional player attack types with ways to combine attacks.
- Improve current attacks to make more meaningful and varying combinations.
- Fluid UI/player control
- More extensive progress saving/loading
- Leaderboards
What I may do, if I feel like it:
- Create a skill tree that the player could then use to select which spells are scaled with each level up.
- Gear for the player that buffs stats in different ways.

Hey there, it is a fun game but it quickly becomes just button-smashing. After 5 minutes playing I had to stop. The player needs to be constantly dashing, it would be better if this would be something special that the player can do, but it shouldn't be necessary to play. Also there's no explanation about the skills, so I went randomly switching between them.
I have a similar game, and I'd love to hear your opinion about it https://beorgames.itch.io/hero-battle-fantasy-arena
Thank you so much for your feedback! I’ll see what I can do to address the momentum of combat and add information in game about the spells and combo mechanics.
I’ll definitely check your game out, thanks again!
